I'm a Forties and early Fifties girl myself so I adore this look. Demure yet strong, Forties women represented the strength of women in some of our recent history's hardest times.
I am fascinated by the hair styles of this era too, which got more and more complex as fabric was rashioned and new dresses became rare. Women wanted to follow fashion with any means they could, so the hair styles became a way of expressing themselves. Women are so resourceful, and to me this just shows you can look fabulous on whatever budget!
